Dunas do Rosado
16-11-2025
About 250 kilometers from Natal, the Dunas do Rosado reveal one of the most striking landscapes in Rio Grande do Norte. Located between Porto do Mangue and Areia Branca, this vast field of moving dunes, covering nearly 10 square kilometers and considered the second largest in Brazil after the Lençóis Maranhenses, remains little visited and maintains a wild, untouched atmosphere.
The site owes its name to the pink color of its sand, which changes with the light and wind, shifting from ochre to golden tones throughout the day. The contrast with the dry sertão and the deep blue sky creates an almost surreal setting. The most spectacular times are sunrise and sunset, when the dunes glow with warm, vibrant colors.
This unique landscape has served as a backdrop for several film and TV productions, including the telenovelas O Clone, Flor do Caribe, and the Netflix series 3%. Classified as an ecological preservation area, the site remains entirely natural, without tourist facilities, protecting its fragile ecosystem.
The village of Ponta do Mel is the main access point. With its calm beaches and welcoming atmosphere, it is ideal for exploring this little-known desert of the Northeast, preferably in the early morning or late afternoon when the light highlights every curve and ridge of the sand.
